Special Education Preschool education (3 – 5 years of age) is provided by the Mount Vernon School District through the Skagit Preschool and Resource Center (SPARC) for children who are residents of the Mount Vernon School District. Eligible children are from age three to age five who have been evaluated and found eligible for Special Education services. The preschool program classroom setting consists of a daily routine of activities rich in the development of physical, adaptive/self-help, social-emotional, academic, and communication skills. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech/language therapy services are provided when needed as part of an Individual Education Plan (IEP) developed with parent participation. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom and participate in parent meetings throughout the school year.
